Camel trek in the desert to discover the life of the Tuareg nomads

From October to May on two days, transfer in 4X4 until Douz for the departure of the circuit in the desert

Duration: 3-5 hours of walking a day.

The night in a bivouac in the silence of the desert is unforgettable

Day 1: Djerba > Douz > Desert

  • Supported by our representative, then transfer to Douz.

  • We will meet our Bedouin guides and their dromedaries and we will leave for the first stage of our camel trek.

  • After two hours of hiking, lunch break.

  • Resumption of our walk for 3 hours in the dunes of white sand.

  • Bivouac, dinner and night in the desert in individual tents.

Day 2:  Desert > Douz > Djerba

Camel ride, Camel ride or Trek?

 

Whether in camel ride, camel trek or trek, you will be completely autarky, accompanied by camel and camel.

 

Saharan caravan

Each camel driver drives his own camels.

Some dromedaries are intended exclusively for carrying equipment and supplies (including dromedaries, others are reserved for riding, and they usually carry your luggage on which you can put your legs.

 

In camel ride or camel trek, you can choose to ride or walk, depending on your desires.

It is rare to do all the circuit on camel back. Even if you are not a great walker, you will also want to stretch your legs.

 

In Tunisia, camels are mounted on the back of their hump. Blankets are installed to form a comfortable seat. It's much more comfortable than Touareg seats

You do not run your dromedary yourself.

It is attached with one or two other camels, guided by the camel driver. It is thus accessible to all, without any prior learning.

 

Camel rides

In meharee, you have a camel ride, exclusively for you.

This dromedary also carries some luggage that does not interfere with riding.

They will allow you to rest your legs.

 

Camel ride

In camel trekking, you have one riding camel to share with other participants. This is what we recommend most often. Indeed, people rarely go up along the circuit. A camel is not very comfortable. Camels also carry your luggage.

Young children can eventually ride two on a camel

 

Trek

In trek version, you only walk. Camels are exclusively intended for portering.

If necessary, a dromedary "emergency" can be relieved to carry you.
