51st International Sahara Festival, Douz TUNISIA

The 51st edition of the Douz Sahara International Festival, from December 20 to 23, 2018 in the Saharan city of Douz (Kébili).

Conferences, intellectual meetings of literature and poetry, traditional weddings, camel races, courses and exhibitions are on the program of this festival.

The International Sahara Festival is an annual festival held in the Tunisian city of Douz. The event, which took place over four days at the end of December, is an event reserved for thousands of people from all over Tunisia and around the world.

After the official opening ceremony, the main events take place on Place Henich, surrounded by Bedouin tents: courses and camel fights, fantasias, traditional Bedouin wedding ceremonies or Sloughi hunts.

During the evening, groups from other countries perform popular songs and dances. Poetry and the fine arts are also in the spotlight

Story:

The event first appeared in 1910 in the form of camel trek marathons and folk games under the Aegis of the Resident General of France.

In 1967, place of the first international edition of the festival with the support of several ministries.
